Tom Friedman – Ignore Him or Acknowledge his Preeminence?

A little over 8 years ago, I pointed out that Tom Friedman is an ass. I Two and a half years ago, Tom Friedman’s gilded idiocy led me to argue that he should be ignored. Ten months later, the over-privileged font of mediocrity drove me to ignore my own advice and address his odd authoritarian fantasy that American needs a wildly popular third party that agrees with him.

But since then, I’ve been disciplined. I don’t think I’ve mentioned him at all.

A couple days ago, though, Atrios took the other tack, and named Tom Friedman “Wanker of the Decade”, atop a list of lesser wankers that included such standouts as Mark Halperin and Joe Klein. I suppose that bogus quotation about evil and good men doing nothing applies to me here.

I can’t believe you can write this way about The Mustache of Understanding. It takes a special skill to stand out among our chattering class of privileged, disconnected assholes telling all of us how our betters think we should behave.

Unless he’s strictly writing on economics I ignore him.
